Subfloor preparation
The Adlington Hills system installs as a floating floor over concrete, plywood, existing vinyl, ceramic tile, and most other hard surfaces. We require the subfloor to be clean, dry, and level within 3/16 inch over 10 feet. Remove carpet and padding before installation, but you can leave sheet vinyl or VCT tiles if they’re firmly adhered.
Acclimation and layout
Store cartons in the installation space for 48 hours before beginning work, maintaining room temperature between 65-85°F. Our drop-and-lock mechanism allows boards to snap together at an angle without sliding or tapping. Start the first row along the longest wall, maintaining a 1/4-inch expansion gap at all vertical surfaces. Stagger end joints by at least 6 inches between adjacent rows.
Maintenance & care
Daily maintenance involves sweeping or vacuuming with the beater bar raised to remove grit that can dull the wear layer over time. For deeper cleaning, use a damp microfiber mop with pH-neutral vinyl floor cleaner diluted according to bottle instructions.
