Mountain Creek Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring | NuCore
Mountain Creek captures the organic grain patterns and warm tones of natural white oak in a 100% waterproof rigid core construction. We engineered this plank to handle moisture, impacts, and heavy foot traffic while delivering the authentic look of hardwood. Each 7.25-inch wide board features our attached EVA foam underlayment for sound dampening and an ultra-stable rigid core that installs over most existing floors.
Our Mountain Creek planks lock together with a precision click system that makes DIY installation simple. The 20-mil wear layer resists scratches, stains, and fading, backed by our lifetime residential warranty. We designed this collection for homeowners who want hardwood aesthetics without the maintenance or water damage concerns of real wood.
Mountain Creek construction & specs

Rigid Core Technology & Waterproof Performance
We built NuCore Mountain Creek on our proprietary rigid core technology that makes traditional luxury vinyl plank completely waterproof. The dense stone-polymer composite core won’t swell, warp, or delaminate when exposed to standing water. You can install Mountain Creek in full bathrooms, laundry rooms, and below-grade basements without worrying about moisture damage.
Our rigid core structure provides dimensional stability across temperature fluctuations and subfloor irregularities. The planks resist expansion and contraction better than traditional floating floors, which means fewer gaps and a more stable installation over time. The attached underlayment creates a moisture barrier while cushioning each step and reducing sound transfer between floors.

Installation Requirements & Subfloor Prep
Mountain Creek installs as a floating floor over concrete, existing vinyl, tile, and properly prepared wood subfloors. Our click-lock system requires no adhesive, so you can walk on the floor immediately after installation. We recommend leaving a 1/4-inch expansion gap around the perimeter and using our color-matched moldings to finish transitions.
Subfloor prep is minimal compared to glue-down products. The surface must be clean, dry, and level to within 3/16 inch over a 10-foot span. Our rigid core handles minor imperfections, but grinding down high spots and filling low areas ensures the best long-term performance. You can install Mountain Creek over radiant heat systems as long as the surface temperature stays below 85°F.
Wear Layer & Scratch Resistance
20-Mil Commercial-Grade Protection
We topped Mountain Creek with a 20-mil wear layer that exceeds residential performance standards. This urethane-enhanced coating resists scratches from pet claws, furniture legs, and tracked-in grit. The layer also contains UV inhibitors that prevent color fade in direct sunlight – a common problem with lower-grade vinyl products.
Our wear layer passes ASTM commercial traffic testing, which makes Mountain Creek suitable for light commercial applications like offices and boutiques. The surface coating also resists household chemicals and stains. Spilled wine, pet accidents, and kitchen messes wipe clean without leaving permanent marks or requiring special cleaners.

Mountain Creek Installation & Performance Questions
Yes, Mountain Creek installs directly over most existing hard surfaces including ceramic tile, porcelain, vinyl, and concrete. The subfloor must be clean, dry, and level within 3/16 inch over 10 feet. Fill grout lines and low spots with floor patch compound for a smooth base. Our rigid core construction bridges minor imperfections better than standard flexible vinyl.
Mountain Creek features 100% waterproof construction throughout the entire plank structure, making it safe for full bathrooms, laundry rooms, mudrooms, and basements. The rigid core won't swell or delaminate when exposed to standing water. You can install it right up to showers and tubs without worry. Just ensure proper sealing at wall transitions with our matching moldings.
Our 20-mil wear layer exceeds most residential vinyl products which typically use 12-mil or 6-mil coatings. This commercial-grade thickness provides superior scratch resistance and allows Mountain Creek to carry a 10-year light commercial warranty in addition to the lifetime residential coverage. The thicker layer also resists UV fading better than economy-grade vinyl planks.
Basic installation requires a tape measure, utility knife with sharp blades, straight edge, pencil, and rubber mallet with tapping block. You'll also need spacers to maintain the expansion gap and a pull bar for the last row. A miter saw or vinyl plank cutter speeds up cuts but isn't mandatory. No adhesive or special flooring tools required thanks to our click-lock system.
Yes, Mountain Creek is compatible with radiant heat as long as the surface temperature remains below 85°F. Turn off the heating system 48 hours before installation and keep it off for 48 hours after completion. Gradually increase temperature over several days once installation is complete. The waterproof rigid core handles temperature cycling without warping or gapping.
We recommend ordering 10% additional material beyond your measured square footage to cover installation waste from cuts and pattern matching. Keep extra planks stored flat in a climate-controlled space for future repairs. Each carton contains 8 planks covering 19.04 square feet. Having spare material ensures you can replace individual damaged planks years later with perfectly matched product.
Mountain Creek includes factory-attached 1mm EVA foam underlayment, so you don't need to purchase or install separate padding. The integrated underlayment provides sound dampening and cushioning while the waterproof rigid core acts as its own moisture barrier. This saves installation time and reduces total project cost compared to products requiring separate underlayment.
